More than Four Seasons

A new season is coming to our part of the world. We see more signs of it every day . . . . big, puffy clouds that hide the intense, equatorial sun for longer periods of time; sudden, short rainshowers that make the humidity unbearable; even a few thunderstorms. Rainy season is coming!! We always gladly welcome it. Soon we’ll have not just minutes or hours, but days of rain and clouds. It’s our favorite time of year!

Our life here kind of goes in seasons, too. It had been a few weeks since I had met up with any friends that I’ve made on the island. Homeschool and daily routine had kept me busy and tired. Then last week, a friend I hadn’t thought about in awhile called me out of the blue. We had been in a cooking class together last year when our kids were in the international school. She just wanted to see if we still lived in the islands. I invited her over for tea, and when she came she brought four other friends from the cooking class. We had a great time. They brought their favorite afternoon snacks, called “short eats” and I made brownies and vanilla muffins. We talked about our kids, school, and the way things have changed on our island. We’re very different, but we still have so much in common.

I’m thankful for changing seasons. ~ Angie
